In your opinion, what is the best automotive website to use to buy and research used cars?

Edmunds is pretty much my first pick site for researching and buying info with regards to vehicles. The site is maneuverable and the info is all there for the picking. Reviews, advice, pricing, it's all at Edmunds. They've been around for years and have built a solid rep as a go-to car information website.

When is a perfect time for a consumer to purchase a used car?

I do believe that dealers, and consequently sales managers and salespeople are very "quota" conscience so the end of the month would be an ideal to strike a deal on a used car. Towards the end of the month, managers and sales people are scrambling to secure deals which lead to secured quotas and potentially nice bonuses.

Winter is also a good time to shop for used cars because sales are typically lower so salespeople are more desperate to make a deal.

Do you believe President Obama was correct in bailing out GM last year? If yes, why?

As a car person, I would say, "Of course!" GM, is an American brand which has been around since the year of the flood. I knew the bailout would work, instill some good feeling all around and inject a tad of confidence into our economy. GM is an American institution that was broken and needed fixing. After a few high level folks were given the boot and new blood was infused into GM, the road to recovery was truly in plain site. GM has even joined the ranks of the green revolution which is a great thing (getting rid of Hummer and adding the Cruze). I really don't think that Americans wanted GM to truly die off.

Do you believe the proliferation of Craigslist.org will ultimately put local classified sites/newspapers out of business?

I'll put it to you this way, I don't really know anyone who subscribes or even buys newspapers anymore. Most of the people I know get their info in a nutshell online, so what does that tell you? Placing an ad on an online site provides the seller a greater scope of potential buyers.

Thank you Ruth aka Car Chick™
