Here is a common mistake to avoid when trying to repair your
credit. Many people, especially in this current economic downturn,
have bad credit. There has been a major increase in "credit
repair" companies. They all claim to offer an easy painless
solution to an individual's credit woes. For the most part, their
assistance is expensive to you and does little in helping you
rebuild credit. They typically call your creditors and arrange
a payment schedule and then they charge you a fee for that service.
It is our opinion that, this can be done yourself. Most companies
who hold debt want only one thing, and that is to be paid back.
If you call them, and ask to be placed on a scheule of repayment
that you can handle financially, most will glady work with you
and accomodate you. Don't fall victim to easy fixes and promises
of painless credit repair by these "for profit" companies
that have recently sprung up everywhere. It will likely put you
further in debt.
